Let’s talk about “zero” 😍

Different ways to say zero in American English (they will be different in British English)

Maybe you saw my new Instagram reel with the many ways say zero. But I’ve added some new ways to say zero. T

he more reminders we have, the more the new words will stick in our brain right? So let’s review!

Zero is a number. Like 0, 1, 2, 3, 4.

However when giving phone numbers or dates, it’s common to use “oh”. My phone number is 702-0124.

He was born in 1907. We say “oh” and not zero.

We also use “oh” for bus numbers or room numbers.

Take bus 102 to get to Atlanta.

He is staying in room 407.

When it comes to sports and the score is zero we use nothing or zip.

They won 4-nothing. They won 4-zip

In tennis they say love when the score is zero.

The score is 2-love. Isn’t that cute?
using zero in sports

We also use nada, zippo, and zilch to say nothing—it’s more like slang.

Did you find anything shopping today? Zilch

Was there any fruit left at the market? Zippo

Did you earn any money today? Nada! Better luck tomorrow!

Wasn’t that fun? What was your favorite one? Try using it with a friend this week.
