Happy fall! Today is the first day of fall!
In American English, we use the word “fall.” In British English, they say “autumn.
Fall is my ABSOLUTE favorite time of the year. It’s time for sweaters and candles, nature walks, the leaves changing, and of course the produce of the season like apples, pumpkins, and squash.
Here are 3 things most families do every fall in the USA:
1. Apple picking – There are so many beautiful apple orchards and most families go pick apples. There are MANY recipes like apple crisp, apple pie, apple pancakes and more. I would say Americans do a LOT of baking in the fall, myself included.
2. The pumpkin patch – We love to go to the pumpkin patch. My kids adore choosing a pumpkin all on their own. We usually carve the pumpkins to make jack-o-lanterns. We roast the pumpkin seeds. They are so delicious and nutritious.
3. Go find the leaves – We love to go on walks or drives to see the leaves changing. The beautiful reds, oranges, and yellows are just amazing! We also rake the leaves in our yard and our kids love to jump and play in them.
Of course it’s also football season, so many Americans go watch football games or gather in their living rooms to watch the games on TV. We also celebrate Halloween and Thanksgiving in the fall.
It is an amazing time of year where the summer heat turns into crisp fall days (or at least a little cooler days!)
