Buying a House
Real Estate Agent: Hi. I’m so excited to work with you. Can you
tell me what you’re looking for in a house?
Randy: Yeah. I’m excited too. I’m looking for something with some
land. Maybe a couple of acres since I have horses. I would prefer a
ranch style house.
Real Estate Agent: How many bedrooms and bathrooms?
Randy: Ideally 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms. I would love an extra
room that I could turn into an office for my wife, because she
works from home.
Real Estate Agent: Okay. And do you prefer new construction or
old?
Randy: It doesn’t matter. As long as the price is right. I really don’t
want a fixer upper.
Real Estate Agent: Okay. Got it. Speaking of price, what is your
budget?
Randy: To give you a ballpark figure, I would say between $350-
$400,000. I already have a pre-approval letter from the bank for a
loan of this size.
Real Estate Agent: Okay, yeah. That’s great you’ve already been
preapproved. As you know, the housing market is hot these days,
but I think you have a good budget. Most likely I won’t be able
to find anything with that many acres of land right in town. But if
you’re willing to drive 20-30 minutes, I think that will open up some
possibilities.
Randy: Yeah, I hear ya. The drive is no problem for us. We would
prefer to be a little outside of town.
Real Estate Agent: Okay. Well, I will be looking, and as soon as
something comes up, I will give you a call. You hadn’t mentioned if
there is a timeframe for buying the house?
Randy: We have to be out of our apartment in 3 months. So ideally
by then.
Real Estate Agent: Great. I’m looking forward to helping you find
the perfect house for you and your wife.
Randy: I appreciate it. Thank you.
